Music for Hairdressers

Music for Hairdressers - came one day while rinsing the chemicals out of my hair after yet another trip to my lovely, gay hairdresser to get more blonde, rust and purple streaks in my hair. I was still moving and bopping to the incessant music that thronged in the salon.

I was moving ('Addicted To Love' style in their video clip) under shower and all of a sudden the riff was in my head. Do, do-do do, do-do do do-do, do do-do do, do-do do-do do...

I got out of the shower and spent that arvo capturing the whole experience. I only ever really got as far as developing the rough demo sketch but the essence is there.

Music for Hairdressers

Do ya, do your hair,
Do ya, do your hair,
Do ya, do your hair,
come on baby do your hair.
Music for hairdressers
Music for hairdress-sus.

Two shampoos and rinse
Conditioner, and rinse again.
Take a seat, would you like some tea
Or a magazine?

Oh he'll be with you in just a while,
I know you'll love him he has such a beautiful style
And an enchanting smile (while the speakers play...)

Music for hairdressers
Music for hairdress-sus
To do your hair!
Do ya, do your hair,
Do ya, do your hair,
Do ya, do your hair,
Come on baby do your hair.
Music for hairdressers
Music for hairdress-sus

Just a streak or two
Some red and blue, the mirror shines.
Gel and blow it dry
A final brush it looks divine.

Well that's the price you pay for the chance
To be invited up onto the dance floor to dance
And find romance (while the speakers play...)

Music for hairdressers
Music for hairdress-sus
To do your hair!
Do ya, do your hair,
Do ya, do your hair,
Do ya, do your hair,
Come on baby do your hair.

Tap dance solo

Music for hairdressers
Music for hairdress-sus (while the speakers pl ay...)
Music for hairdressers
Music for hairdress-sus
To do your hair!
Do ya, do your hair,
Do ya, do your hair,
Do ya, do your hair,
Come on baby do your hair.
Do ya, do your hair,
Do ya, do your hair,
Do ya, do your hair,
Come on baby do your hair.
Do ya, do your hair,
Do ya, do your hair,
Do ya, do your hair,
Come on baby do your hair...
(repeat and fade)

Notes:
- The intro is supposed to sound like you are in the salon and the song comes on... you can just hear it in the background before the song starts.

- The tap dancing solo in the middle was layered hand clapping done very quickly with an image of Shirley Temple dancing on the salon tables in front of the mirrors.
